FreeHand Courses

Most software manufacturers have cut costs - and saved jobs - by supplying minimal manuals, if any manuals at all. Unfortunately, this leaves the user in the position of searching the Help files or jumping into online forums in hopes of finding information they need to get their work done. The tutorials that come with most programs do a pretty good job, but they're short and incomplete. We're attempting to fill that information gap with a series of courses. With years of experience, and the book authoring projects Ron has done, FreeHand just happens to be the first course on our list.

Casual FreeHand™

What's "Casual FreeHand," you ask? Well, you'll learn FreeHand from a professional computer artist - someone who knows the intimate details of not just the programs, but job requirements and the demands of commercial printers and the Web. This course contains hours of movies that explain every menu item, tool, and feature of FreeHand MX in detail. For the most part, basic tips and tricks work with older versions of FreeHand, but special attention is given to the new features of FreeHand MX, such as the Object panel and the Extrude tool. Special lessons teach you how to set type like a pro, create 3D objects with flair, and even set up a comprehensive Web site to show the client before tackling the job in Dreamweaver. Other lessons help you improve your vector drawing skills, make multiple-page layouts with Master Pages, and deliver quick animations without resorting to Flash.

In short, Casual FreeHand will teach you what you need to know to function in the FreeHand environment - in a brief timeframe. You can bounce around in the lessons to pick and choose what you need to learn, or you can follow the course as it's written for a more full learning experience. After taking the course, you can be assured that you can do just about anything in FreeHand.

The course consists of nearly 200 how-to movies and hands-on projects that explain in detail how to use the major features and attributes of the program.

This course is delivered on two CD-ROMs that work on PCs and Macs. A CD-ROM drive and sound card is all that's necessary to run the course, but FreeHand MX has the following requirements:
